Orunodoi Scheme 8000 New List 2026?

Every year, the government checks the beneficiary list. They remove the names of people who no longer need the help. In their place, they add new families who really need the money.

The “8000 new list” refers to the fresh batch of names added to the program for this year. If you applied for the scheme recently, your name might be on this new list for 2026. When your name is on the final list, you will start receiving the monthly money in your bank account. This money is meant to help you buy food, medicines, and other daily needs for your family.

What is the Orunodoi Scheme 2026?

The Orunodoi Scheme is a welfare programme launched by the Assam government in October 2020. It was started during the COVID-19 pandemic when many families were struggling to meet daily expenses .

Under this scheme, the government gives monthly cash assistance to women from poor families. The money goes directly to their bank accounts. There are no middlemen involved .

The government chose women as beneficiaries because they are usually the ones who manage household expenses. This way, the money is used for food, medicines, electricity bills, and children’s school needs .

When the scheme first started, each woman received ₹830 per month. Today, that amount has increased to ₹1,250 per month

Other Welfare Schemes in Assam?

Orunodoi is not the only welfare scheme for women in Assam. The state government runs several programmes to help women become financially independent.

Mukhyamantri Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA)

Under this scheme, women entrepreneurs receive seed capital to start their own businesses. As of February 2026, 28.61 lakh women had received ₹10,000 each under this scheme. The Chief Minister has promised to increase this amount to ₹25,000 in the coming year.

Lakhpati Didi Scheme

More than 5.5 lakh women in Assam have become “Lakhpati Didis” under this scheme. This means they have been able to earn an annual income of ₹1 lakh or more through self-help groups and small businesses.

Ujjwala Scheme

Over 5.1 lakh LPG connections have been provided to women in Assam under the Ujjwala scheme. This gives them access to clean cooking fuel.

Tap Water Connections

More than 5.9 million households in Assam have received tap water connections under the Jal Jeevan Mission.

What Is Next for Orunodoi?

The government has said that it wants to take the scheme beyond just giving money. The Chief Minister spoke about turning it into “Orunodoi Poriyal” – which means making the scheme a part of the family’s overall well-being.

This would involve providing not just cash but also other support like free ration items, as promised. The goal is to create a comprehensive support system for poor families.

If the government returns to power, it plans to cover 100% of eligible women. This would add more beneficiaries to the scheme.
