UPTET 2026 Eligibility Rules?
The UP TET exam is for people who want to teach in primary and upper primary schools. The rules are different depending on the class you want to teach. Recently, the UPESSC also amended the rules to allow all serving assistant teachers and all D.El.Ed trainees to apply.
For Primary Teachers (Class 1 to 5)
You must have a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college. You also need a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed or BTC). Final-year students are also eligible to apply.
For Upper Primary Teachers (Class 6 to 8)
You need a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with at least 50% marks. You also need a B.Ed degree or a 2-year BTC training certificate. Final-year students are allowed to fill out the form.

UPTET 2026 Online Form Fill Up
Filling out the form is a simple process. You just need a computer or a smartphone with a good internet connection.
- First, complete One Time Registration (OTR) on the official website. It is compulsory.
- Visit the official site uptet.upessc.org after March 27.
- Click on the UPTET 2026 apply online link.
- Fill your personal details, education info, and upload photo and signature.
- Pay the application fee online.
- Submit the form and take a printout for your records.

UPTET 2026 Application Fees
The fees are:
- General, OBC, EWS: ₹1000
- SC, ST: ₹500

You can pay through debit card, credit card, net banking, or SBI challan. Pay on time or your form will not be complete.
UPTET 2026 Exam Pattern
The exam has two papers:
- Paper 1 for primary teachers (Classes 1-5)
- Paper 2 for upper primary teachers (Classes 6-8)
It is an offline pen-and-paper test. Each paper has 150 questions and you get 150 minutes. There is no negative marking.

UPTET 2026 Salary Amount
Once you pass UPTET and get selected for a government teaching job, the salary is quite attractive. Primary teachers (Classes 1 to 5) get around ₹37,000 per month in hand. Upper primary teachers (Classes 6 to 8) get between ₹40,000 to ₹45,000 per month. This amount includes basic pay plus allowances like dearness allowance and house rent.
