The Government of Assam recently launched a great welfare program called the Mukhya Mantrir Nijut Babu Scheme. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma started this scheme in early 2026 to help male students continue their higher education without worrying about money.

Nijut Babu Scheme Last Date
The government has not fixed one single last date for the Nijut Babu Scheme. For the 2025-26 study year, colleges started taking forms from January 2026 and many asked students to submit by February. Since we are now in 2026, the best thing is to ask your college office today. They know the exact time left for this year.
If you join college late or miss the first round, still talk to the principal – sometimes they accept forms later if seats are open. Always check the official website of Directorate of Higher Education Assam for any new notice.

If you are in the first year of graduation, you get 1,000 rupees each month for up to 10 months in the year. That makes 10,000 rupees total in one year. For post-graduation first year, you get 2,000 rupees every month for 10 months – total 20,000 rupees in a year. Money does not come during long holidays like summer break.
