BPSC TRE 4.0 Exam Date 2026: The BPSC has fixed the written exam dates clearly. The TRE 4.0 exam will happen from 22 September 2026 to 27 September 2026. This is a six-day window, and the exam will be held in offline mode (pen and paper) at many centres across Bihar.

BPSC TRE 4.0 Eligibility Criteria
BPSC keeps the eligibility rules simple and clear so that genuine candidates can apply without confusion.
1. Age Limit
Minimum Age: 18 years for Primary and Middle School teachers; 21 years for Secondary and Senior Secondary teachers.
Maximum Age: 37 years for General category men. Women and reserved category candidates get extra age relaxation (usually up to 40 or 42 years).
2. Education Requirements
Primary Teachers (Classes 1 to 5): You need to pass your 12th grade with at least 50% marks. You also need a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) and must have passed the CTET or BTET Paper 1 exam.
Middle School Teachers (Classes 6 to 8): You need a College Graduation degree. Along with that, you need a B.Ed or D.El.Ed degree, and you must have passed the CTET or STET Paper 2 exam.
Secondary Teachers (Classes 9 to 10): You must have a Graduation or Post-Graduation degree in the subject you want to teach. A B.Ed degree and passing the STET Paper 1 exam are also mandatory.
Senior Secondary Teachers (Classes 11 to 12): You need a Post-Graduation (Master’s) degree in your subject, a B.Ed degree, and you must pass the STET Paper 2 exam.

Exam Pattern and Selection Process
The TRE 4.0 exam will be an offline test. Candidates will have to mark their answers on an OMR sheet. The paper will be for 2 hours and 30 minutes and will carry a total of 150 marks. The question paper will have two parts.
Language Paper:Â This will test your skills in English and one of the regional languages like Hindi, Urdu, or Bengali.
Subject Paper:Â This will cover general studies and the specific subject you are applying for.
There is no negative marking in this exam, which is a relief for many candidates. After the written exam, selected candidates will have to go through document verification. A final merit list will then be prepared based on the exam scores.

Major Changes in TRE 4.0: Domicile Policy and Reservation
This time, the Bihar government has introduced a new rule called the domicile policy. According to this, 85% of the total vacancies will be reserved for the original residents of Bihar. The remaining 15% seats will be open to candidates from other states or those who studied outside Bihar for their Class 10 and 12.
