What is the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship?
This scholarship is also known as the Bikash Bhavan Scholarship. The government started it to help students who have good marks but come from families with low income. The goal is to make sure money problems do not stop students from studying.
Students from Class 11 and 12 can apply. Students doing graduation (UG) and post-graduation (PG) can also apply. Even students in diploma, engineering, medical, and arts courses can apply for this help. The scholarship money is sent directly to the student’s bank account. This system is called Direct Bank Transfer (DBT).

Checking your status is simple and free. Go to the official portal and click on the applicant login. Enter your 15-digit applicant ID and password. After login, you can see if your form is submitted, verified by college, or sanctioned. You will also get SMS updates on your mobile. If you forget the ID or password, there is a “Forgot ID/Password” option.
Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Eligibility Criteria
To get this scholarship, you must live in West Bengal and study in a regular course. Your family’s yearly earnings should not be more than Rs 2,50,000. This rule does not apply for Kanyashree K3 girls or board toppers. You need at least 60% marks in your last exam for school or undergraduate courses.
For postgraduate courses, you need 53% marks in general subjects or 55% in engineering. Kanyashree K3 girls need only 45% marks in graduation for postgraduate studies. There should be no gap year in studies unless you have a valid reason like illness. You cannot take any other government scholarship for the same course. Students in Class 11-12, diploma, degree, engineering, medical, or research courses can apply if they meet these simple rules.

SVMCM Scholarship Renewal Process
If you already received this scholarship last year, you do not have to make a brand-new application. You just need to renew it.

You must pass your last exam on the very first try.

You need to maintain good marks (at least 60% for most courses).

You must apply for the renewal within one month of taking admission into your next class or semester.

Simply log into the portal with your old ID and upload your new mark sheet and admission receipt.
SVMCM Scholarship Common Problems and Solutions
Sometimes students face issues while checking the status.
Problem: The website is not opening or is very slow.
Solution: Try opening the site at a different time. Many students check at the same time, which makes the server slow. Also, clear your browser cache.
Problem: You forgot your Application ID.
Solution: Check your registered email inbox. When you first registered, the system sent you a confirmation email with your ID. If you cannot find it, contact your college or call the helpline.
Problem: Your status shows “Submitted” for a long time.
Solution: This means your college has not yet verified your application. Contact your school or college office. Ask them to check and forward your application.
