The ethanol bike era in India has truly begun. In 2026, you can walk into a showroom and buy a motorcycle that runs on fuel made by Indian farmers. This was unthinkable just five years ago.
There are still challenges. Ethanol pumps are not everywhere yet. Mileage with high ethanol blends is slightly lower. Long-term maintenance needs more care. But the direction is clear — ethanol is going to be a big part of India’s two-wheeler future.
Best Ethanol Bikes in India 2026
Many companies in India are now launching bikes that can run on E20, E85, or even pure E100 fuel. The TVS Apache RTR 200 Fi E100 is the first 100% ethanol bike. Fuel Availability in Your Area
Right now, E20 petrol is available at every pump in India. That is good news because all the bikes listed above can run on E20. But E85 and E100 pumps are still rare. The government has set a target to have E85 pumps at fuel stations by 2027, but as of today, only a few hundred pumps across the country offer higher ethanol blends.

Ethanol Bikes Running Cost
Ethanol fuel is generally cheaper than petrol. Government estimates suggest that E100 could cost around ₹60–70 per litre, compared to petrol which is currently over ₹100 per litre in most cities.
But there is a catch. Ethanol has a lower energy density than petrol. That means one litre of ethanol will take you fewer kilometres than one litre of petrol. Several studies show a drop in mileage of about 1% to 6% when using ethanol-blended fuel, and the drop is larger with higher blends like E85.
