The Bengal Police issued a high alert on May 15, 2026, warning citizens not to fall into the trap of fake websites and fake “status check” links. Fraudsters are creating websites that look exactly like real government portals and sending SMS or WhatsApp messages asking you to “Check Your Annapurna Bhandar Status” or “Complete Your Registration.”
Ensure Your Mobile Number is Active and Linked to Aadhaar
Every OTP (one-time password) for scheme registration and status checks will go to the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar card. If your number has changed or is inactive, you will not be able to register or receive updates. Visit your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra to update your mobile number if needed.
Keep Your Ration Card and Voter ID Ready
While the final rules are not yet out, welfare schemes in Bengal usually require proof that you are a permanent resident of the state. Documents like your voter ID card or ration card are expected to be important for the application, so keep them safely at hand.
Check if Your Bank Account is Linked to Aadhaar (DBT Seeding)
This is the most critical step. The ₹3,000 will only come into accounts that are connected to the government’s DBT system. If your Aadhaar number is not linked (or “seeded”) with your bank account, the payment will fail and you may be marked as “ineligible” by the computer system.
